Frugal Girl – Finally Tried the Fabric Softener

So, after learning about the Fabric Softener concoction on Sunday, I re-washed the load yesterday and forgot to even put in the Fabric Softener, so I opted for the third try tonight. On the third try, I didn’t make it in the rinse cycle, so I didn’t figure it really counted. On the 4th try, I correctly added the homemade softener into the rinse cycle, immediately transported to the dryer after the wash was complete, and it was . . .

okay, just okay.

Our Fabulous Envelope System

All of that trying, only to discover that it is adequate when the Dave envelope is empty, but I still really prefer a great recommendation that came to me from my girlfriend, Niki – half a lid of my Snuggle filled to the rim with vinegar makes it go further, gets the clothes cleaner and aids in keeping the washer clean.

Did any of you ladies have a different opinion? Post if you tried the homemade softener. Do you like it, hate it or have another D.I.Y to make our laundry fresh and budget friendly?

Frugal Girl (to be continued)

This is the first post to reveal I’m not super fabulous. There will be many more post like this to follow in the coming days and weeks. I always say that I need to write a book about the life of a “real” mom with 3 kids ages 4 and under.

WHOOPS!

I told you that I would let you know how the DIY Fabric Softener worked . . . well, I don’t know – I never got around to trying it today. That load of laundry that I was prepping for the new creation is still sitting in the washer, and yes, I know, this means that if I don’t get up now to unload the dryer and transfer the load from the washer into the dryer, I will have to rewash the load tomorrow because it won’t smell so pleasant.

This is the first installment of my transparency – I am terrible at keeping up with laundry! My dream would be to have someone do our laundry, iron it and put it away for me. I am even more certain that this is my husband’s dream. Hopefully, as I strive to be more of a Proverbs 31 Wife, I will be a better laundry attendant, as well. If that doesn’t work, we are

“living like no one else so that one day we will be able to live like no one else” (Dave Ramsey)

If I get around to trying out the new concoction tomorrow, I will post. In the meantime, let me know if you are first to try out our new product.

Frugal Girl

So, we just ran out of fabric softener and the fabulous leather bound Dave Ramsey envelope system is also out of cash for cleaner, so what is a girl to do? We must have our clothes smelling fabulous, so I checked out my Frugal Girl friends for a DIY fabric softener fix. I’m trying it in my next load, and I will let you know if it passes the test . . . stay tuned. I have already been using half vinegar and half softener, so this may be even better!
